During SXSW Chloe Charles and I met with Scott Henderson, founder of New Empire Builders. Scott caught our set at the Samsung Bloggers Lounge – and invited us to do a sit down chat about our work touring as The Sweetness.

Wandering around the 2012 SXSW Interactive Festival, editor-in-chief Scott Henderson sought out people and ideas with the potential of shifting how the world works to make it better.

In this episode, he visits with Aly Tadros and Chloe Charles, two of the four members of the musical collective, The Sweetness. After touring together as solo acts and forging sister-like bonds, Aly and Chloe have come together with Douglas Jay Boyd and double bassist Sam McLellan to forge new organizational ground.

Instead of creating a single monolithic band, they have chosen to perform as a collective. The distinction is that each song performed comes from one of their solo bodies of work with the other three playing as the backing band. This arrangement allows them the flexibility of touring as a group and as solo artists throughout the year.

The music at the start and end of the audio interview comes from a live performance of The Sweetness at SXSW 2012 Interactive Festival.
